Fr. Mark Hyde received his early education in his hometown of Meriden, CT. He completed his high school studies at Salesian in Goshen, NY, and graduated from Don Bosco College, Newton, NJ in 1975 with a BA in Philosophy. He received his Master’s in Divinity from the Pontifical College Josephinum in 1981. In that same year he was ordained a Salesian Priest.
In his years of ministry as a Salesian Priest he served in Salesian Ministries in Alabama, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts and Ohio in varying capacities such as Youth Minister, Vocation Director, Director of Youth Services, Pastor and Executive Director. As a young priest Fr. Hyde also served in the Salesian Mission in the Bahamas.
More recently, he worked in Haiti following the earthquake of 2010, to help with emergency relief and reconstruction efforts. During the past eight years he has visited Salesian Missions in Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, India, Mexico, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam. As Director of Salesian Missions, a non-profit organization that raises money and secures in-kind gifts for the support of the poor worldwide, Fr. Hyde with his staff works to provide Salesian missionaries the support they need to help the poor in over 130 countries around the globe. These missionaries proclaim the Gospel while teaching young people and their families the skills they need to become useful and productive members of society.
